What is Zcash?
Zcash launched in 2016, also aiming at privacy but by a different route from Monero. Zcash uses a cryptographic technique that proves a transaction is valid without revealing the sender, recipient or amount — proving correctness without exposing the data.
The distinguishing feature is choice: users can transact with transparent addresses like Bitcoin's, or with shielded ones. This makes Zcash more flexible for compliance purposes, since a user can deliberately disclose a transaction when they need to demonstrate the origin of funds.
Risks to weigh: in practice most Zcash transactions still use transparent addresses, so the privacy actually achieved is lower than the design allows. Like Monero, Zcash has been delisted by several major exchanges under regulatory pressure. For Vietnamese users, the likelihood of domestic exchanges supporting it is low.
