What is VeChain?

VeChain focuses on supply-chain tracking — attaching identifiers to physical products to record their journey from production to consumer on a blockchain, helping verify origin and combat counterfeiting.

The project partners with large businesses in food, wine, luxury goods and automotive sectors to pilot this tracking. VeChain uses a consensus mechanism with a limited number of validating nodes, selected based on corporate reputation.

Risks to weigh: the limited validator set means far less decentralisation than open networks. The solution's value depends on businesses genuinely integrating it into operations rather than stopping at pilot stage.
