TRON is a blockchain launched in 2018 by Justin Sun, focused on low transaction costs and fast confirmation. The TRX coin is used to pay network fees and to vote for the parties that validate blocks.
TRON's most significant practical use today is moving stablecoins. A very large share of circulating USDT sits on TRON, mainly because transfer fees are considerably lower than on Ethereum. For users who simply need to send USDT between wallets or exchanges, TRON is often the cheapest route.
Risks to weigh: TRON uses a model where token holders vote for a small set of validators, making it less decentralised than Bitcoin or Ethereum. The network is closely identified with its founder, who has repeatedly been the subject of legal proceedings. When transferring USDT, choosing the correct network matters — sending to the wrong network is the most common way users lose funds.
