What is Sui?
Sui launched in 2023, built by engineers who previously worked on Meta's digital currency project. Its notable technical choice: the network distinguishes simple transactions from complex ones. Ordinary asset transfers do not require network-wide consensus and settle almost instantly; only transactions touching shared state go through the full process.
This delivers speed without sacrificing correctness. Sui targets gaming and applications with many small, frequent operations.
Risks to weigh: it is a young network, not yet tested by time. Much of the initial supply belongs to early investors and the team, released on a schedule, creating potential selling pressure. Its bespoke programming language means developers must learn from scratch.
