What is Stellar?

Stellar launched in 2014, founded by Jed McCaleb, one of Ripple's co-founders. Its aim is low-cost cross-border payments, targeting users in developing countries and small remittances that traditional banks price out.

The network settles transactions in seconds at near-zero fees. XLM acts as a bridge asset when converting between currencies and provides spam protection. Stellar runs under a non-profit foundation, unlike most other projects.

Risks to weigh: it is less decentralised than Bitcoin because consensus relies on a set of trusted nodes. The project competes directly with XRP in the same niche, and both face rapidly improving traditional payment rails.

Where to buy XLM in Vietnam
