What is PayPal USD?

PayPal USD is a stablecoin issued by PayPal through its partner Paxos, launched in 2023. It was the first stablecoin from a major US payments company, marking traditional finance's entry into the category.

Each PYUSD is backed by dollar deposits, short-term US Treasury bills and cash equivalents. Paxos is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services, so compliance standards are above the general market.

Risks to weigh: as with any centralised stablecoin, value depends entirely on the issuer and the quality of reserves. Adoption remains limited next to USDT and USDC. The issuer can freeze balances at the request of authorities.

Where to buy PYUSD in Vietnam
