What is Ondo?
Ondo focuses on tokenised real-world assets — bringing traditional instruments such as US Treasury bills onto blockchains. Its main product lets investors hold tokens representing a portfolio of short-term government debt and receive the underlying yield.
The appeal is combining the steady yield of government bonds with the fast transferability of on-chain assets.
Risks to weigh: products like this raise clear legal questions in many jurisdictions — a token representing a security is very likely to be treated as a security and regulated accordingly. In Vietnam, the current pilot framework has not clarified how this asset class is handled. Counterparty risk with the manager of the underlying assets also remains.
