What is Lido DAO?

Lido addresses a practical problem with staking on Ethereum: the minimum amount to run one's own validator node is substantial, and directly staked assets are locked, unusable for anything else.

Lido pools deposits from many users, distributes them to professional node operators, and issues a token representing the staked share that users can still trade or use in other applications — known as liquid staking.

Risks to weigh: Lido holds a large share of total Ethereum staking, raising concerns about concentration in a single protocol. The representative token can trade at a slight discount to the underlying asset during periods of high market stress.
