What is Arweave?

Arweave addresses permanent data storage — unlike most decentralised storage services that charge based on rental duration, Arweave uses a pay-once, store-forever model, based on the assumption that storage costs will keep falling over time.

The project is used to archive web content, historical records and data users want guaranteed against deletion or alteration, including by Arweave itself.

Risks to weigh: the "pay once, store forever" economic model depends on the assumption that storage costs keep declining long-term — if that assumption fails, the reserve fund may not cover future storage costs. Real-world usage remains concentrated in specific use cases.
